For YEARS I preached how some style rules just shouldn't be broken, and one I stuck to was not wearing white pants before Memorial Day. And here it is the first full week of May and I'm wearing white jeans on the blog! (I also wore this same exact outfit a couple weeks ago, see on Instagram). Why the change of heart?  As my friend Rosana said on Twitter last week, by Memorial Day it's just too hot to wear white jeans!  Also I think it looks seasonally appropriate when paired with darker colors and cooler weather accessories.  Choosing a closed-toe shoe and a longer sleeved blouse in navy shows I'm a purposeful rule breaker!

  1. Memorial Day?! Down here, it’s always been Easter. And more and more fashionistas are pushing that up to Spring Break. I think the rule should be based on temperature, but unfortunately, I don’t write the rules! :/

  2. Oh, wow, do you look great in this simple outfit! White jeans, there is some kind of magic there, and I’m so glad I finally found some that fit. Thanks for reminding me that it’s time to dig them out.

  3. I’ve been wearing white jeans since early March. I made it my challenge to style them differently each time and wear them once a week. I’ve had them for a year or two but just not putting them on so I made it my challenge. And it worked! White jeans rock!

  4. You look great! Honestly, I love white jeans year round – they look so chic with, say, a big navy sweater and cognac booties in the winter.

  5. Yeah, I don’t think those rules for wearing white apply to white denim. It’s too damned hot between Memorial Day and Labor Day to wear any denim, regardless of the color. I think it made more sense when the “white” one would wear would be linen, not denim.

  6. I love your new photo set up that you’ve been using recently with the all white background. You’re rocking those jeans and your hair looks great today 🙂

  7. I agree. I have a white pair of jeans and cringe at the thought of wearing them in the hot DC area! I love your look, so classic and fresh at the same time!

  8. You’re right, white jeans or jeans or any weight are hot and bulky by Memorial Day! I’m wearing the same Ann Taylor camp shirt today in a shade of light peach. Great basic look.
