Ivory and black print wrap dress from Ann Taylor (this fall), black round toe “Henri” heels from Jessica Simpson (2006), black and silver necklace from Brass Plum (this fall), silver hoops and cuff.
Hair was washed and conditioned, a bit of Pureology Root Lift and some Sexy Straight hair's Shine On! added while wet, and then dried upside down with a paddle brush most of the way, then a round brush to smooth. Again, took some scissors to the bangs as that right now I have no time to visit Kathleen my stylist.
Makeup is L'Oreal True Match concealer in W4-5 (good stuff, can hardly see the massive hole in my face next to my mouth from popping a white head yesterday), philosophy the Supernatural in Beige, Nars blush in Orgasm, Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Glossy rose, Pop Beauty shadow set for brown eyes – sparkly beige on lids, black and brown combined on lid, black along lash line and a bit of Body Shop Eye Definer in black (details can be found here), lashes curled, Sephora Volume mascara in black.
And I have gotten a few emails asking for the rest of my wardrobe – what does my purse look like, what do my coats look like? Well here I am in the coat and scarf I wore today – this is a black wool peacoat from Calvin Klein that I got at TJ Maxx over a decade ago and my faux purple pashmina from last week, now as a scarf. I almost never get rid of a coat – I usually buy pretty simple styles and if they go out of vogue, they usually come back in some fashion later on. I feel this way about great bags, accessories and shoes too – still have a black suede slouchy totle from Esprit that I used to carry all my worldy posessions in back in 9th grade. The adjustable strap could lengthen to cross my body as I stomped around Georgetown in my Doc Martens and torn stockings. Used this same bag a couple months ago as a laptop bag (my pashmina was nice padding) for a business trip. Buy classic, well-made pieces and they can last you a lifetime!

This watercolor print silk dress is a total splurge; I don’t really need it and it wasn’t cheap, but I felt this style would work through the summer and also work as I change clothing sizes. I also love how it looks with a wide leather belt for a completely different look. Purple and green…
I love a good shirtdress, and when this shirtdress from the Girl With Curves clothing line arrived in my latest Dia & Co box, I was psyched. After trying the dress on, I was ecstatic. This is a fantastic dress for many reasons. Dress: Girl With Curves c/o Dia & Co (1X) | Earrings: Jenny…

Sorry for being MIA – work has been super busy. I have taken a couple of pictures so I can give you a recap of the past… gosh almost a week! Casual Friday, I wore my white gauzy peasant top from Old Navy, my Seven jeans (which are now fitting a bit loose), my Allison…
Good advice about the classics, Allie. I have a camel coat that is very classic and I am sort of bored with it. Just yesterday, I was thinking about getting rid of it. Thanks to you it is staying in the closet.
I know, I only got because of the style, not the brand. They have them at places like Nordstrom. I think the quality is similar to many other similarly priced brands like Nine West, Impo, etc. Fit well – a 7.5 fits for me and isn’t super narrow like Unisa or something.
Jessica Simpson shoes? How are those– comfy– well made? I heard she came out with a shoeline but I never saw them in the stores (I always wasn’t looking too hard for them!) I love that dress!
Honestly, i just pretend I am Kathleen and I hold up pieces between two fingers and snip snip. I try to snip snip on an angle so it’s jagged pieces so you can’t tell I don’t know what I am doing. And small pieces at a time, then pull to the center to see if they are even. Then muss them up a lot so no one can tell they are really crooked! 🙂
Ok–I’ve gotta ask, because I now have no time for my stylist either. Any secrets to bang cutting? Mine have grown out but my forehead is so wide you could show How the West Was Won on it, and I need some camo.
