When I get an idea in my head I get a bit obsessed. To speak on a panel at the TCFStyle Expo, I decided I wanted to wear a fabulous maxi skirt. Something with a cool print, something not too stiff, something with pockets, and something that would fit my short curvy body. I immediately went to Etsy. I found this Ankara maxi skirt on Etsy, and was able to order it with the right sized waist and length; many Etsy sellers offer custom sized fashion. I searched and found nothing that was quite right.
But Etsy watches your searches, your favorites, your purchases and will recommend items. Based upon my maxi skirt searches, the next time I opened Etsy this skirt from Trinity Michelle was in my suggestions. Perfection! I reached out and asked if I could do some customization. I wanted a 3″ wide waistband so I could wear it high and it would tuck under a cropped top like I have in this post, or else would cover skin if I decide to wear it with a knotted tee. I also asked for pockets. Not a problem, the skirt arrived and the print was even prettier in person and the waistband a perfect size. I thought I'd need to hem it but once I put on my Naturalizer sandals I found it was a perfect length too.
Update: Trinity Michelle is offering 15% off this skirt while she still has the fabric available. Use code WardrobeOxygen at checkout!
The top is from ELOQUII and I wore it previously in this outfit post with my shorter Ankara skirt. This is such a fun top, I'd love to style it with a pair of high-waisted jeans, though I haven't been able to find any I like. The fabric is like a lightweight ponte so it has body but is also stretchy and figure flattering. This top also comes in a gorgeous berry color. And yes, it launders nicely!
Speaking of Etsy, my earrings and ring are both from there. I wore these vintage earrings on the blog previously. The ring just arrived this week. Being a larger woman, it's hard to find pretty cocktail rings over a size 8. This is a size 10, is in like-new condition, exactly what I desired, and only $30. Seriously, if you're frustrated by the lack of fun fashion for larger women, head to Etsy!

Dinner at a hip restaurant, then T.B.A. for afterwards. Really requires me to dress for a multitide of activites. Salsa dancing? Smoky bar and rock band? Karaoke? Chi chi club? Sorry about yesterday, my husband was working in the office where I take pictures and the elevator was never empty to shoot my reflection in the wall. No big loss, I wore some patch-pocket lightweight jeans from Gap with my black and gray striped v-neck sweater from Banana Republic. Today it is in the 50s…

These are clip on! It’s the only way I could make it work. I’ve been doing bigger earrings lately that are post, but look for lighter weight versions. For example the ivory ones from J. Crew I often wear have the sequins attached to leather instead of metal or plastic which reduces the weight greatly. And like a pair of heels, the night after wearing big earrings I take the day off and go without so my ears can rest!
This skirt is stunning! I feel like you should be standing on some seaside balcony with a glass of wine in your hand and the skirt blowing out behind you from the breeze. 🙂
That skirt is TO DIE. Literally. It looks so great! I love it with the black top you’ve shown with it but also seconding the suggestion of a white shirt.
Yowza! That skirt deserves more that just it’s own post … it might deserve a whole week of “what I wore”. Major impact and drama. If you’re on stage, it blows anybody else offstage. I could see it styled with a crisp white shirt … and Tees in multiple solid colors.
I too was thinking a white shirt, dress it down with a heather grey v-neck tee, a denim shirt tied at the waist, get crazy with pattern mixing and style with a striped off the shoulder knit top, a colored fitted tee or tank, so many ways to style this!
I don’t know if you’re ever planning a “top ten” outfits post, but this definitely makes the cut! Certainly for this year … and maybe a couple past years.
Best. Photos. Ever.
You know me, the lover of rainbows, thinks this skirt is amazing! Looooove it.
Thank you, and yes when I think of rainbows I think of you!
Incredible! Any tips for wearing large earrings and keeping decent ear lobe “health”?

You look stunning in this outfit! You have inspired me to shop Etsy for an Ankara skirt. Especially since they have pockets!
Yes! Etsy is so great for Ankara skirts made by small businesses and individuals!
This is right up there with the red snow leopard dress! http://ubcxyjmp.top/2016/03/what-i-wore-michael-kors-leopard-maxi-dress.html So wonderfully glamorous!
Gosh I love that dress. It’s like my bust grew since that winter it fits everywhere but that, I’ll try it again this winter!
That is SUCH a fabulous outfit! You’ve been hitting it out of the park lately!
