With the holidays, it's nice to be festive. It's not nice to feel like a stuffed sausage in your frock even before you've had a single canape. So when I saw this slouchy, stretchy velvet jumpsuit from Melissa McCarthy Seven7 I was psyched! To keep it looking like festive wear and not loungewear I amped up the glamour with lots of mascara, a bold red lip, sparkly jewelry, and a heel. This would also look great with a metallic or sparkly belt.
When Nordstrom asked me to talk about shoes this holiday, I immediately thought pumps. Pumps are the most versatile shoes – from work to play, trousers to jeans, and skirts of all lengths they work. They're a shoe you can wear for all your holiday social events, but still find so wearable the rest of the year. I have several Nine West pumps and find them the perfect blend of price, comfort, and style. The ‘Jackpot' is a fave; 3.5″ slim heel, pointed toe to elongate the leg, and a single sole that is elegant and classic. Nordstrom has this shoe in a wine colored patent and nude leather, but I fell for the pewter glitter option which looks like liquid metal. It has enough shine to look festive, but after the holidays I can wear it with dark slim jeans or leather leggings and a blazer or crisp white shirt.
It has been a pleasure to work with Nordstrom this year. It's by far my favorite place to shop thanks to their great selection, variety of sizes and prices, and fantastic customer service. If you're still looking for a gift or holiday outfit, you can shop online and pick up same day at your local store; they also have a handy chart to show how late you can order to have it in time.

This weekend was pretty busy – Sunday I hosted a bridal shower for my best friend. I hope to have pictures from that event a little later in the week. I wore the same dress that I wore on Thursday, same shoes too. 🙂 Anyway, on to today…Attire:Old Navy – Two white ribbed tanks layered…
Hey Allie, you mentioned wanting a wrap coat this winter on the blog so I thought it might be appropriate to take this moment to send you some pics of the wrap coat I bought last winter and have been struggling to style – and ask for your advice! I really like the exaggerated collar…
After happy hour, I went home and did laundry. Hubby came home from a hockey game, we watched a movie and fell asleep on the couch. Saturday – It was my husband’s birthday. We started the day off with breakfast with the parents, then the two of us took a short hike, then he went…
New clothes! New clothes! I bought a few things recently from Banana Republic (everything too big except this dress), Gap (nice new tees but their European line is disappointing and will be returned) and Nordstrom (everything ugly) and then of course Sephora. My seasonal web-based shopping spree. So a lovely black merino wool sweater dress…
Shirt: c/o InStyle Essentials | Belt: Vintage – Belonged to my Mom | Skirt: J. Crew Factory | Bracelet: Rebecca Minkoff | Shoes: Vince Camuto I gotta say, style rules be damned, I love me a pleated chiffon maxi skirt. I’m short, I’m overweight, and I don’t care. I saw this one at J. Crew…
I have the same style in jersey from ASOS and LOOOOOVE it. Feels like I’m in my PJs without looking like I am 🙂 As it’s summer here in Australia, I can still get away with wearing mine in the evening with nude wedges or chunky high heeled sandals and something sparkly around my neck. The velvet is gorgeous!
It’s very similar to the Loveappella one I have that is short-sleeved. Such a brilliant design, nothing like wearing the equivalent of PJs out and about and looking stylish!
That looks super comfortable. You definitely want to sharpen your acessory game for this to look it’s best. Love it. A structured blazer in white would be killer with this.
Agree, this jumpsuit is super versatile. I have a wide metal belt from ASOS (http://bit.ly/2gsyR5e ) that looked super cool with it and a pair of strappy metallic heels. I also tried a gold chain belt. The velvet is thick, so it would be hard to style under some blazers, but there’s endless ways to style this for the holidays and beyond!

You are just beautiful! Love the outfit (and the shoes!).
Thank you Kathy!
Oh i love this jumper and can imagine it styled in infinite ways, great choice A!
Thanks Lorena!

Or a red sash type belt…
